Message from Lt. General Carl A. Strock

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is the largest federal provider of outdoors recreation. We operate more than 4300 recreation areas at 456 lakes in 43 states. We host about 385 million visits a year at our lakes, beaches, and other areas. And we estimate that 25 million Americans visit a Corps project at least once a year. As the demand for outdoor recreation grows, we must remain responsive to our visitor's needs and expectations. These needs have changed dramatically since the 60's and 70's when most Corps projects were designed and built. It is critical that our managers use all the funding tools and partnership opportunities available to them to ensure that we meet customer needs and offer the high quality of service our visitors expect. I encourage you to examine the tools provided on this website. It can help you explore new and exciting ways to obtain additional financial resources, and establish partnerships necessary to enhance our recreation mission.
